Short Films
I have made many short films in my time both in and out of University. The format of short films to convey a short narrative is really enticing to me. During all of these projects, I would work in most of the roles. Ranging from character designer, to animator or even producer.
Unaware (2020)
Unaware (2020) A normal everyday world comes alive with creatures big and small. The populous are Unaware of their existence but these creatures are vying for attention. A animation film made by me (Ross Kennedy) & Claudia Lowrie.
For this film I took an equal role with my classmate, Claudia Lowrie, together we came up with the concept for the film and the character designs. This film was a really good exercise as it allowed a good format to display all my different animation and design skills. After the animation was done it was left to me to composite all the creatures into the real-life background using Adobe After Effects.
Colourtoo (2019)
ColourToo is on a quest to discover what makes them special. But they will need help from all the colourful animals of the jungle.
This short film, made during my second year of university, was part of the children's tv animation course. In this course we had the task of forming a group and creating an animated film targeted towards children.
In this film I took a lead part in the script writing as well as being the producer and character designer. I also picked up some animation work as it was needed later on. Really taking part in as much as I could physically manage. I am really proud of this film, It fits the brief as well as exceeding it.
We Found Something (2017)
Two children stumble into an abandoned shed. At first, all is pleasant but it is when they discover a blackened doll that all begins to change. Another collaborative film made during my University. For this I worked in a group with three other classmates. We each split up the roles we would be doing. For this I would be the lead character designer and animator. I also had a large part in coming up with the narrative and taking the film in a darker more sinister route.
